Heather at Keep it Simple Social Media and I have been managing dozens of Facebook Business pages and advertising account for over 10 years. Lately, my Facebook personal account, Facebook business page, Facebook messenger, a client’s ads manager account and our business manager has been either hacked or compromised.
This happens to the best of us but there are steps to take to PROTECT your account and to REACH out for HELP with Facebook if it happens. Please note, if you are worried about the security of your account, let Facebook know right away: https://www.facebook.com/hacked.
“Two-factor authentication is a security feature that helps protect your Facebook account in addition to your password. If you set up two-factor authentication, you’ll be asked to enter a special login code or confirm your login attempt each time someone tries accessing Facebook from a browser or mobile device we don’t recognize.
You can also get alerts when someone tries logging in from a browser or mobile device we don’t recognize.”
To do so:
1- Change you Facebook password. Go to https://www.facebook.com/recover/initiate/
2- Make sure you have two-factor authentication set up – see above.
3- Do a post letting people know that your accounts has been hacked to prevent them from taking action such as liking or comment
